As soon as the call went into voice mail, she dialed the number again. The darkness and distance between them fed her determination. She had to hear his voice to know things were okay. She could not stop herself, calling again and again, forty times in all. However he didn’t know; his phone’s ringer was turned off.

  2. And I bet he got an earful when she finally spoke to him; nothing worse than not knowing. . . when someone doesn't answer . . . when you expect them to. Short, sweet and to the point. I like it very much. x
