The taunting, insults, and judgments had gone on her whole life it seemed. She had fought them, and then tried to ignore their words and assaults. Eventually she gave up, knowing she would never fit into their mold or be like them.

Ultimately, she decided that she no longer cared to conquer them. She finally realized it was more important to conquer herself.

  1. This is a great example of how we wish others would change and in reality we can't change anyone other than ourselves. We are all unique and to find someone exactly like ourselves is very remote.

Have a great weekend and I hope the sun is shining for you today.

  2. The very best use of the word conquer is to conquer ourselves! She was wise to realize that she did not have to own their opinions of her, or try to be like them. Excellent, thought provoking piece!

  4. Ann sorry for my tardiness in replying. This is very similar to mine you were right, I love the take from each and everyone that contribute to these challenges. The last line was magic.

  5. I knew you would do it … what a perfect connotation of the word Conquer and a story that teaches. Your gift would appear to be endless … that's why I love to come over to read what you have to say. You conquered the challenge again this week … 🙂
