Nest

She feathered the nest with hopes and dreams
love and security bound up at the seams.
As time flew by love grew stronger,
until it couldn’t be held any longer.
As they grew older she emptied the nest,
knowing that she had done her best.
She watched the young ones making their own;
a heart full of love is never alone.
Life is a circle to which we are bound;
love we give out comes back around.

  1. AMAZING, JUST AMAZING………VERY TRUE WE ALL ARE CAGED IN LIFE AND IT GOES ROUND AND ROUND. WHAT WE GIVE, COMES BACK TO US BE IT LOVE OR HATRED, BUT A MOTHER;S HEART IS A SEA OF LOVE AND IT WILL ALWAYS GIVE LOVE…

  2. I like the way you expressed this. Yes, the love we give eventually passes on to the next generation (as well as returns to us)!! May all mothers, when they empty the nest, know that they did their best!

  3. I love the nest building and nurturing heart of the mother ~ it's a full circle and eventually some comes back with their own little nest ~

  4. You are just awesome … your poetry is so genuine and beautiful. I hope the world is out there discovering your book “Weeds”. They will relate to so much of it. Be well on this day … I know it is hard with Bill being gone, but there is love coming at you from many directions.

  5. This describes motherhood very well. Happy Mother's Day to you. We all have a mother wether she is here on hearth or gone from our site but never far from the heart, and it's fitting that there is a special day set aside for our moms. I miss my mother very much.

  6. I like the image of the nest – and the last line is so true. We love them so dearly and then they fly away to start their own nests. Bittersweet and the last line so true. Also some nice rhyme and rhythm. Thanks!
