Lucy sat in her chair, watching the birds build their nest. From her window, it was exciting to the see the babies hatch and grow. She witnessed their tentative flights grow stronger, eventually abandoning the nest.

At the end of each day, Lucy took off her heavy leg braces and climbed into bed. It was there that her own dreams could take flight.

  1. Great introduction. We are all weighed down by something that is not always as visible as leg braces but we all want to be free of something or other.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  2. Hello McGuffy Ann!

I am returning your visit to my site and your kind words!

You encourage me to keep trying. Even Elf, the little imp that lives in my mind since I remember is happy to thank your comment.

Your beautiful way to answer this challenge, enclosing a dream in a hard reality is giving pathos a new meaning.

I loved your Five Sentences Fiction, so full of human traits!

    Thank you.

  3. I look forward to your 5 Word Fiction every week, thinking each time that it can't get any better, and yet, it does. You are awesome (I would say “you rock!”, but someone has said that already 🙂
