A Hot Summer

*I received this from a friend & wanted to share.
I know many can relate to it!

IT’S SO HOT
…the birds have to use tongs to pull the worms out of the ground.
…the trees are whistling for the dogs.
…the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance
…hot water comes from both taps.
…you can make sun tea instantly.
…you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
…the temperature drops below 90 F and you feel a little chilly.
…you discover that in July it only takes two fingers to steer your car (one on each hand).
…you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
…you actually burn your hand opening the car door.
…you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 5:30 A.M.
…you realize that asphalt has a liquid stage.
…the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter.
…the cows are giving evaporated milk.
…farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

  1. Yes, even here in southern Ontario. We're sweltering, at over 100F with the humidex factor. Ugh.

Stay as cool as possible; we hope you have ac (the human does at work, but we don't at home).

  2. Relate is an understatement … the air is so heavy I can hardly push through it. How are you doing … staying inside I hope. Last week we were complaining about all of the rain, now we have to water our flower … Good Grief, our weather is really messed up! Good post, McGuffy …

  3. Loved this post! You know I can relate to the heat factor, though it is thankfully rare for us to have humidity here, that makes it doubly miserable. A good day for staying inside and sipping iced tea! 🙂

  4. We have to do stuff outside when Bill is home; I can't do everything. I am limited. But we take breaks. I am thankful for him, but feel bad he works on the road, then comes home and works. *sigh*

  5. It's hot, indeed! I laughed at the seventh item on the list. Sometimes the AC in our office goes a little wonky, and we're cold in here even when it's 96 degrees and humid outside. 🙂

  6. LOL — all feel like they are true as we are smack dab in a heat wave right now. My poor girls when they got in their car seats the other day on the way to the beach — got burnt on their wee bums from the car seat buckles. ouch. My candle on the outside dining table actually melted. whew – that is hot.

  7. We totally can relate. We are wishing for a little of that rain back that we were complaining about not so long ago. Mom says we all looked like big puddles of melted fur yesterday. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
