Sparks: 26

It is my intent to post an inspirational thought each Monday. It becomes my weekly meditation. I hope that perhaps it can feed another’s spirit as well. With that in mind and heart, I invited others to join me.

There is an obvious universal need for more positive energy. The negative energy in the world has become thick and oppressive. Social media has become a part of this dark, negative storm. But, we can change that.

I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. There is hope. Together, we can light up the entire world!

Light of the World

You are the light of the world!
You are the light of the world!
But, if that light is under a bushel,
it’s lost something kind of crucial.
You’ve got to stay bright to be the light of the world.

You are the salt of the earth.
You are the salt of the earth.
But, if that salt has lost its flavor,
it ain’t got much in its favor.
You can’t have that fault and be the salt of the earth!

So let your light so shine before men;
let your light so shine.
So, that they might know some kindness again.
We all need help to feel fine.
Let’s have some wine! (Communion!)

You are the city of God.
You are the city of God.
But, if that city is on a hill,
it’s kinda’ hard to hide it well.
You’ve got to stay pretty in the city of God.

So let your light so shine before men;
let your light so shine.
So, that they might know some kindness again.
We all need help to feel fine.
Let’s have some wine! (Communion!)

You are the light of the world.
You are the light of the world.
But, the tallest candlestick
ain’t much good without a wick.
You’ve got to live right to be the light of the world.

  1. There is certainly a lot of wisdom and “message” in the words to the song. This is the first time I’ve actually SEEN all the words – it is a most special movie/play. A wonderful Easter message actually.

  5. Forty-five years later, it’s still a wonderful song and message. Of course, the message is much older….but no less relevant regardless of time! Perfect way to begin a Monday. And, like Peabea, we are white again! xoxo

  7. This song says so much. Song lyrics easily stick in our brains and these are lyrics that we should sing to ourselves everyday. Excellent choice for today, Annie. I am going to have to find a copy of this movie on-line and watch it. Sending lots of hugs, love and prayers. Hope your Easter was good. XOXO, Janet 🙏🏻💐💞

  8. What a beautiful Spark to go along with a beautiful holiday. I cannot believe that I have never watched Godspell. I really must remedy that.
