Friendly Fill-ins: Week 94

We are happy you are here for another week of friendly sharing! As always, you can find the fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. On Fridays, we post the link for sharing. Please link your post as directed. You can answer in the comments, if you need to. Remember to visit other blogs. It takes a while, I know. But, there is no rush, and it is very much worthwhile.

It has been an unsettling week here. The weather was very odd. Our 24” of snow on the ground is completely gone! We had rain, storms, and above average temperatures. There has been a lot of flooding.

For the second time just this year, a close friend of mine has lost a spouse. I am just trying to be there for support. My heart goes out to them. This is a very real fear, especially as we get older. One cannot help but look at one’s own mortality. While it remains a fear within most of us, one cannot live in fear. Instead, let us look at that love and celebrate it, now. It will comfort us later.

Chloe Jo took a turn for the worse. She has been having pain, along with her kidney and intestinal issues. Consequently, she has been very moody, irritable, and clingy. Bee and Clyde have been trying to not annoy her. They seem to have always understood that she has special needs. Bless their hearts. I won’t know anything about Chloe Jo’s status for a while. She had some med. changes and has another follow-up next week. She will probably have more tests, too.

I am still having health issues, too. Doctors, tests, etc. take time. So, it has been a busy week. Thank you for understanding that life gets in the way of fun and games. Even when I have to read on the run, and can’t always comment, please know that I am there and care. I appreciate each of you.

Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe, warm, and healthy. I will see you soon. Hugs!

1. My favorite president is Ronald Reagan because he was a true American. In my humble opinion, that is what it takes to be President of the United States. He came from modest Midwestern roots. He worked his way up in life, setting and meeting goals. He was intelligent, humourous, and he had heart. Dubbed “The Great Communicator”, he was well-respected worldwide. He cut taxes, while increasing military strength, believing and proving “peace through strength”. He clearly reiterated the purpose of government. He brought control back to the people, reducing their dependence on “government”.

I base my belief and thoughts on personal experience. I was there, just beginning my adulthood. Beaten and desperate, America had come through a difficult period: the Vietnam conflict, Watergate, The Hostage Crisis to name a few. The gas crisis and job shortages were affecting everyone. Parents were laid off, friends couldn’t find jobs. Ronald Reagan renewed hope. And, he kept his promises. We all profited from his sensible thinking. It worked.

On a final note, Mr. Reagan also loved animals. He was quite well known for his dogs and horses.

2. This weekend, I have plans to make a special dinner for Bill. I am making homemade cabbage rolls, pierogis, and kielbasa. This was all by his special request. No music night, as his friend is in Poland, visiting relatives.

3. I wear my gold cross necklace every day. Bill bought it for me and I do not take it off. It is a constant reminder that God is always with me and that I am loved.

4. I believe that we are responsible for the things that we do that we shouldn’t do. I also believe that we are also responsible for the things that we should do, but choose not to do. These are facets of karma.

Sparks: 20

20

I am thankful for the opportunity that Sparks provides me with, which is to renew a goal I had when I began blogging. Years ago, I shared inspirational thoughts each Monday. It would be my weekly meditation, and perhaps feed another’s spirit as well. It was all about positive energy.

But, “Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans” (John Lennon). Recently, I was motivated to revive this weekly post. The negative energy in the world has become thick and oppressive. It is everywhere, including social media. People speak of love, but from a dark heart. It is true, actions speak louder than words. There is an obvious universal need for more positive energy. We need to walk the talk. And, some do.

I was very encouraged when others wanted to join me in my quest to counteract the negativity around us. I am inspired by the positive energy of my peers. Every day, I read their heartfelt words, and often feel I am better for it. Their weekly posts for Sparks are especially filled with hope and light. They are Sparks. They shine!

I believe we are all meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. With clarity, we begin to understand, or at least accept our differences. The light within us is unique, which only adds to the beauty.

It all begins with a spark, a true desire to be the change that we all wish to see in the world. Together, we can light up the entire world with positive energy. Imagine!

If we all shine on…and on and on and on and on…

I hope you will join us. Post a positive quote or some of your own inspirational words. Please add the Sparks badge to your post, so others can find it easily. Be sure to come back and link up to us here. We want to see your Sparks! Peace!

Acts of Kindness

be_kind_poster

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day. I know I like to do things for others, so this celebration of kindness speaks to my heart. I especially like to do things anonymously, when possible.

It is easy to find kind things to do, too. Quite often, the ordinary acts are the most needed. I can pick up trash and put it into the proper receptacle. I figure that someone needs to, and it benefits everyone. I will take a neighbor’s trash can in from the curb, when I take my own in. I often hold the door at the post office, because it is a nice thing to do. These actions have become so ordinary to me, but they make people smile. That is my reward.

There is such a need for kindness. It costs nothing, and the opportunities are endless. See what you can do to make the world a little bit kinder and gentler. And, don’t be surprised when you feel better, too.

Friendly Fill-ins: Week 93

We are happy you are here for another week of friendly sharing! As always, you can find the fill-ins here and at 15andmeowing.com each Thursday. On Fridays, we post the link for sharing. Please link your post as directed. You can answer in the comments, if you need to. Remember to visit other blogs. It takes a while, but it is very much appreciated. And, you will be so happy that you visited everyone.

I am taking everyone in one-by-one or two-by-two in for annual visits. So far, so good. Nothing new. George had his shots this week. Precautions were taken, so he had no reactions and sleep it all off. He is very sensitive. Next week, Grizelda and Chloe Jo will go for their annual shots. Chloe Jo will have her usual (frequent) evaluation, too.

I am happy to say that I was a First Commenter and First Right Guesser over at the Tuesday Teaser! A few weeks ago, I knew one, but held back my guess. When I later found out I was right, I regretted not guessing. This time, I quickly blurted it out, and thought maybe I should have waited. But, I was right, and first! So, trust your instinct! Thank you, Angel Sammy, Teddy, and your wonderful Mom, Pam. I have added the coveted badges to my Page.

After nine straight days of measurable snow, we finally have had a break. This week actually got in the 40s two days. We had a big meltdown and fog! But, there is still a month of Winter. It all comes out in the wash, as Granny used to say.

We are still considering our link-up options. If you have questions, ideas, or concerns, please let us know. We no longer have JavaScript, but that won’t stop us!

I look forward to everyone’s fill-in responses. These were fun! Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe, warm, and healthy. I will see you soon!

1. My Chinese zodiac animal is the Pig. I actually studied Chinese Astrology many years ago. A very close friend was Japanese. I learned everything I could and shared it with family and friends. I still have a couple of very old books about it. Here are Pig facts, for those who are or love a Pig. Please remember, this is just for fun!

In the Japanese and Tibetan zodiac, the Pig is known as the Boar. It is the last of the twelve signs. Legend has it that when Buddha was preparing to leave the Earth, he called to order a great meeting. The Pig was the last one in attendance. Not as fast as other animals, he was deemed slow and lazy.

There are five elements in Chinese astrology: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. The most natural element for the Pig is water, commonly associated with emotions and intuition.

The artistic Pig strives for a life of beauty. She is governed by intelligence and centered by philosophy. These traits make The Pig a calm force and natural leader. She is also a romantic soul, known for her sensitivity and compassion. She is known as self-sacrificing and obliging, prudent and sensible. But, she can also be insecure, precise, even meticulous, finicky, and sometimes can be a bit naive.

Pigs do best with the other two signs of the 4th Trine of Chinese astrology. These signs are the Rabbit and the Goat. They are similar in traits and temperament.

2. My zodiac sign is Gemini, in western astrology. Born May 26th, I am the May twin. It is said that The Twins are mirror opposite. That has certainly been my experience.

3. Income tax season is over at our house. We have had the same accountant for over twenty years. Unfortunately, he is now semi-retired. I fear losing him to his full retirement. When that happens, we do plan to see someone who was trained by and worked for him.

4. In hindsight, I wish I had believed in myself and trusted my own intuition more than I did. Many times in my life, I went with what was right for others, out of loyalty. That loyalty was not ever returned. Ultimately, that was a very painful lesson. However, I do believe in karma.
