Playmates

Remember your friends from childhood? There were the toys and there were the real-life friends. Both were important. I remember how Raggedy Ann and Lamb Chop did everything with me. Lamb Chop sat by me all day while I learned to tie my new plaid sneakers. I was three years old.

I hope you get out and play this weekend. Do it with someone that you love. Make memories. And, remember to play nice! See you soon.

God Only Knows

Hearing this new song by the seasoned John Prine left me in tears. This is a song about oneself and to others, all the while managing to be a prayer to God. For me, it speaks of trying to do what is right and expected of me, but still being very human. I do walk the talk, though I admit that I stumble along the way. Those who love me forgive me, especially God. Because God only knows…I try, with every step. Peace.

A Note

We each bring our unique qualities to everything that we do. Even when we connect with like-minded others, our strengths and gifts vary. These are the things that add the many colours to paintings and various notes to music. These things both connect us and yet make us unique. Always remember to be your very best self and know that it is just right. Because no one is just like you.

On the Clock

Sometimes we have a job to do. Maybe it is doing an old job, but it is in a new place. We prepare; we are ready. We know our job and we are determined to do our best. Then, it seems something goes wrong. We need all the support and encouragement that we can get; but, it really comes down to just us. So, we buckle down and work through the problems. Time is of the essence. We know others are counting on us; that is our driving force. We do what we need to do, in our very own way, because it works! If we care enough and do our own personal best, everyone benefits.

Enjoy your weekend, whatever you do. See you soon!

God is God

Today is Sunday. We are halfway through the A-Z Blogging Challenge. So, this is an Intermission of sorts. I am taking this opportunity to share one of my favourite songs, by one of my favourite singers. Written by Steve Earle, Joan Baez sings this best. Enjoy.

My Saturday Matinee

I have gotten into the habit of posting a little video each Saturday. It reminds me of the traditional Saturday Matinee when I was a child. Each Saturday, the theatres showed an early viewing for families with kids. I am sure some of you remember this special event.

With that in mind, I have kept up my own Saturday Matinee, so as to leave something fun or meaningful (or both) while I am away from my computer. Saturdays are for family errands and chores. On Saturday nights, Bill often plays music. Sundays are for going to Mass, spending time together, and getting Bill ready for the Road.

Most of you know I am a serious Monthy Python fan. I am also a devoted Muppet fan. The two, together, is pure fun! But, this video also has a message. The best-laid plans do not always come together. Sometimes our plans are altered by others’, or by circumstances beyond our control. No matter how we try to fix them, things may just not come together as we planned it.

However, usually, it all still comes out fine! Sometimes, those other factors make things even more special, more fun, or somehow, even better than what we imagined. And, if not, it usually works out, anyway…just as it is meant to.

Make it a great weekend! See you soon!

Sparks: 26

It is my intent to post an inspirational thought each Monday. It becomes my weekly meditation. I hope that perhaps it can feed another’s spirit as well. With that in mind and heart, I invited others to join me.

There is an obvious universal need for more positive energy. The negative energy in the world has become thick and oppressive. Social media has become a part of this dark, negative storm. But, we can change that.

I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. There is hope. Together, we can light up the entire world!

Light of the World

You are the light of the world!
You are the light of the world!
But, if that light is under a bushel,
it’s lost something kind of crucial.
You’ve got to stay bright to be the light of the world.

You are the salt of the earth.
You are the salt of the earth.
But, if that salt has lost its flavor,
it ain’t got much in its favor.
You can’t have that fault and be the salt of the earth!

So let your light so shine before men;
let your light so shine.
So, that they might know some kindness again.
We all need help to feel fine.
Let’s have some wine! (Communion!)

You are the city of God.
You are the city of God.
But, if that city is on a hill,
it’s kinda’ hard to hide it well.
You’ve got to stay pretty in the city of God.

So let your light so shine before men;
let your light so shine.
So, that they might know some kindness again.
We all need help to feel fine.
Let’s have some wine! (Communion!)

You are the light of the world.
You are the light of the world.
But, the tallest candlestick
ain’t much good without a wick.
You’ve got to live right to be the light of the world.
